Top Foods for Glowing Skin

Creams and lotions can help make your skin look more radiant, but it doesn't beat the natural glow that comes from eating a healthy diet.  Here are the top foods for beautiful, glowing skin.

Blueberries: are at the top of the list because they have one of the highest levels of antioxidants of any food. The antioxidants in blueberries neutralize free radicals, which cause damage to skin cells. Blueberries also contain Vitamin C, Vitamin E, riboflavin and fiber.

Tomatoes: contain lycopene, a powerful antioxidant. The antioxidants in tomatoes also help repair skin cells. Consuming tomatoes has also been proven to protect against skin damage from the sun.

Salmon: the key skin improving agents derived from Salmon are fatty acids such as Omega 3. These fatty acids are essential for keeping the skin cell membranes healthy. They do this by keeping harmful substances out while allowing nutrients to enter. Salmon is also a good source of protein, potassium, selenium and vitamin B12.

Almonds: also fight away free radicals. Almonds provide good amounts of Vitamin E which is effective at dealing with free radicals. They also provide flavonoids that protect skin cells from damage.

Green Tea: provides a powerful level of antioxidant. There is also evidence that drinking green tea reduces the effects of exposure to the sun. In addition to the antioxidants, tea contains polyphenols which are effective at removing free radicals and rejuvenating dying skin cells.

Olive Oil: the components of olive oil that are beneficial for your skin are monounsaturated fats. These fats keep your skin soft and supple and help your skin maintain its natural oils.

Water: not exactly a food, but important for healthy skin.  Water helps to keep your skin cells hydrated which helps the skin cells maintain their health by absorbing nutrients and eliminating waste.
